Digby Brown Solicitors
Digby Brown Solicitors is Scotland’s largest specialist personal injury practice with offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Glenrothes. The firm’s brain injury department has years of experience and the expert knowledge in dealing with what are often highly complex cases. Headed by Robert Swanney, rated ‘Leader in his Field’ by Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession, he and his team have helped settle many multi-million pound cases. Digby Brown has particular experience in dealing with cases for children with acquired brain injury and a proven track record of dealing with complex medical negligence, particularly cerebral palsy.
Digby Brown’s aim is to assist the client to receive full and prompt compensation but also to help the client achieve the best outcome physically, psychologically and emotionally, subscribing fully to the Rehabilitation Code of Practice and to APIL’s Best Practice Guide on Rehabilitation. The firm recognises that the medical situation and quality of life may be improved by early intervention, by conducting an immediate needs assessment and by early interim payments. The aim is to start this process from the moment the firm is instructed rather than waiting until compensation is awarded. Digby Brown also focuses on the immediate provision of advice and support on statutory benefits and how to access local authority social services.
The firm founded the Head Injuries Trust for Scotland, providing legal counsellors for its voluntary counselling service that ran Scotland-wide. Digby Brown continues to be involved with the Scottish Head Injury Forum. It is listed on Headway’s Personal Injury List as specialists in brain injury, as well as writing the National Brain Injury Association’s publication, “Claiming compensation after Head Injury in Scotland”.
Digby Brown is rated Band 1 by the leading independent publications, Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession and The Legal 500.
